Black Point

Posted in Photographs by Emily Power on May 20, 2009

I spent the last two days staying in one of the cottages on Black Point in Anglesey and had the chance to take some photos when we went beachcombing and rockpooling on the nearby beach which is overlooked by Penmon lighthouse.
The lighthouse sits in the water between Black Point and the uninhabited Puffin Island and was built in 1838, but has been unmanned since 1922 and run on solar power since 1996. With little to no light pollution in the area its lonely, ominous sounding bell and pulsing beam creates an eerie atmosphere at night – which is brilliant.
